A young man was taken to hospital after being attacked by a cow in a farmyard outside Newton Abbot yesterday. The air ambulance together with a land ambulance and rapid response vehicle attended the scene at Bickington just after 10.30am. The casualty, aged 20, suffered lower leg injuries after being kicked by the cow. Westwood Park Community Hospital will close for up to seven weeks on Monday but the adjoining diagnostic and treatment centre will be unaffected and remain open during the work.
