Crude oil prices opened higher Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, reaching as high as $75 per barrel. Oil futures settled back down to $74.10 per barrel a bit later in the session as traders eyed more indications that an economic recovery was on tap for the United States, thus creating stronger oil demand.
