(PRWEB) October 08, 2013 The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences today awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2013 to François Englert and Peter Higgs to recognize their work developing the...

Higgs Boson Dark Energy

John P. Millis, PhD for redOrbit.com - Your Universe Online For the better part of two decades, the greatest fundamental question facing physics and cosmology has been, quite simply, what is dark energy? Detailed observations of galaxies in our Universe reveal the expansion of the Universe is accelerating. Even after accounting for all of the normal matter, radiation, and even the theorized dark matter out there, there still simply isn't enough "stuff" to explain the dynamics of the...

Has The Higgs Boson Really Been Found?

Brett Smith for redOrbit.com - Your Universe Online After years of theories and speculation, the Higgs boson particle discovery was announced on July 4, or was it? Several caveats swirled around the somewhat anti-climactic announcement, and almost a month later many scientists familiar with the CERN project are still reluctant to definitively say what they found was the so-called ℠God Particle´. A new report by the Atlas team working at the Large Hadron Collider that cited...

British physicist Peter Higgs said Monday he believes the discovery of a subatomic particle, whose existence he postulated about 40 years ago, would take place within the next year as a result of a race between powerful research equipment in the U.S. and Europe.   The particle, named "Higgs boson", would prove the existence of a force that gives mass to the universe and makes life possible, he said. Higgs believes a particle, which originates from the force, will be discovered...
