The Chinese Railways Ministry signed a deal Monday to buy 100 high-speed trains for $5.74 billion. The trains, capable of speeds up to 220 mph, will be built by CNR Corp., a state-owned vehicle manufacturer, China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
