Jonathan Lunine, a professor of planetary science and physics at the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory in Tucson, Arizona, is also an interdisciplinary scientist on the Cassini/Huygens mission. Cassini-Huygens supplied new evidence about why Titan has an atmosphere, making it unique among all solar system moons. Scientists can infer from Cassini-Huygens results that Titan has ammonia, said Jonathan I. In a fortuitous turnabout, large ground-based telescopes have provided data needed to measure the winds encountered by the Huygens spacecraft as it descended through the atmosphere of Saturn's moon Titan last month -- measurements feared lost because of a communication error between Huygens and its mother ship, Cassini.
