U.S. recording artist Tina Turner has been forced to postpone two concerts in England because she is suffering from respiratory flu, her publicist said. The BBC said the 69-year-old singer was to perform at London's O2 Arena Wednesday and Sheffield Arena Thursday but those dates are being postponed until May due to Turner's illness. By bev bevan IKE AND TINA TURNER Shake A Tail Feather (Ground Floor) I RECENTLY watched on DVD the biopic movie What's Love Got To Do With It, which traces the troubled times of Ike and Tina Turner. Word of the Day
cock-a-hoop
  • Exultant; jubilant; triumphant; on the high horse.
  • Tipsy; slightly intoxicated.
This word may come from the phrase 'to set cock on hoop,' or 'to drink festively.' Its origin otherwise is unclear. A theory, according to the Word Detective, is that it's a 'transliteration of the French phrase 'coq a huppe,' meaning a rooster displaying its crest ('huppe') in a pose of proud defiance.' Therefore, 'cock-a-hoop' would 'liken a drunken man to a boastful and aggressive rooster.'
