Research group IDC reported Tuesday that the market for tablet computers is exploding, mostly due to demand for the iPad. During the third quarter of 2010, manufacturers shipped 4.8 million tablets around the world, which is up 45 percent from 3.3 million in the same period last year. According to two industry-tracking firms, growth in shipments of personal computers (PCs) slowed in the final three months of last year.
