The Commercial Appeal reported Wednesday the NCAA has accused the Memphis basketball program of major violations. The Memphis newspaper said that during the 2007-08 season, the school was involved in knowing fraudulence or misconduct, concerning an SAT exam taken by a player. The newspaper quoted the NCAA's report to Memphis as saying the player in question suited up only for the 2007-08 season.
Former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie is suing the school for $6 million, alleging breach of contract, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported Wednesday. Gillispie left Texas A&M in 2007 and agreed to a seven-year deal to coach the Kentucky basketball team.
