Thousands of air travelers have been stranded in Alaska by an ash plume from three volcanoes in the Aleutians, an airline official says. Two federal employees requested evacuation from an island in the Aleutians in Alaska because of tremors that might be harbingers of a volcanic eruption. The pair, both working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, had been expected to be airlifted off Kasatochi by helicopter late Wednesday, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
