NEW YORK, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Can't sleep? No problem, because COMEDY CENTRAL is just getting started! Chug some coffee and get ready for some hilarity on Sunday night, July 12 with the premiere of "Fonejacker" at 2:00 a.m. and the return of "Kenny vs. Spenny" at 2:30 a.m. "Fonejacker," a BAFTA(R) award-winning British prank show never before seen in the United States, features undercover video footage, Monty Python-esque animations and visual on-screen wordplay which turns hilarious,...

By David Kronke "Testees" may be the most sadistic situation comedy in history. This series, about human lab rats who allow themselves to be subjected to pharmaceutical experiments and trials, is ruthlessly cynical and yet (after one episode) fairly unfocused. What could be an inspired idea just seems to be a forum for flatulence and lactation and enlarged male-member gags and worse. Decent comedy can come from such low-rent inspiration, but tonight's episode doesn't quite convince...

By Alan Pergament We could all use a good laugh considering the depressing state of the economy and the increasingly ugly state of the presidential race. Actually, the state of comedy is pretty depressing on network television these days, too. Fox's anemic new comedy, "Do Not Disturb," has already been canceled. And unfortunately, NBC's new Thursday night female bonding comedy, "Kath & Kim," and FX's new gross-out Thursday comedy, "Testees," are cartoonish series that are almost...

LOS ANGELES _ There's big news from the Television Critics Association press tour regarding "Damages": Ted Danson will be back as Arthur Frobisher on the FX show. His performance in Season 1 as the arrogant capitalist was one of the high points of the show, so that's great news. As to whether Frobisher survived being shot at the end of Season 1, well, that's not clear. FX president and general manager John Landgraf said during his remarks that Frobisher did survive, but the "Damages"...

By Robert Bianco and Gary Levin LOS ANGELES -- On a day dedicated to edgy cable channel FX, the network talked to TV writers about saying goodbye to the series that started it all. The Shield, which airs its seventh, final season starting in September, was FX's first original series, sparked rival cable networks to explore their own boundaries and boosted "a network that no one had ever heard of," says FX chief John Landgraf. The Shield also made a star out of Michael Chiklis, who...

By Rick Porter, Zap2It, Chicago Jul. 15--FX has found a comedy that it thinks will pair nicely with the twisted sensibility of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Its title? "Testees." The cable network announced Tuesday that it has ordered 13 episodes of "Testees" (sadly, that's just a working title at the moment) from Kenny Hotz, a writer for "South Park" and the creator and star of "Kenny vs. Spenny." It's scheduled to premiere Oct. 9, joining "It's Always Sunny" to form a one-hour...
