LONDON (Reuters) - British police searched five homes in northern England on Tuesday as part of the investigation into last Thursday's London bombings which killed at least 52 people. A spokeswoman for London police said officers had searched four properties in West Yorkshire and were currently examining a fifth. There have been no arrests.

LONDON (Reuters) - The security threat which forced police to evacuate 20,000 people from central Birmingham overnight was serious and specific in terms of time and location, British police said on Sunday. "We haven't had this level of threat before (in Birmingham)," West Midlands police chief constable Paul Scott-Lee told a news conference as the city began to get back to normal. "The people of Birmingham were in danger last night."
