The Ligurian Sea is an arm off of the Mediterranean Sea, between the island of Corsica and the Italian Riviera. The Sea is most likely named after the ancient Ligures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligures) people. The bordering countries of this sea include Italy, Monaco, and France. Eastwards, the sea borders the Tyrrhenian Sea, while westwards, it borders the Mediterranean Sea proper. Genoa is the most well-known city within the area.
