A MAN struck by a train remained seriously ill in hospital today. He is in the intensive care unit at Newcastle General Hospital after suffering a head injury and collapsed lung. He was struck after running in front of a Hexham to Middlesbrough Northern Rail train on Wednesday morning at the rear of the Davy Roll factory in Gateshead. CHESTER, Va. (AP) -- A construction worker was killed Wednesday when a partially built retail and residential building collapsed in a Richmond suburb, officials said. Emergency crews found the body of Scott Giordano, 38, of Disputanta, Va., about six hours after the collapse and continued to search for anyone else who might have been trapped, said Chesterfield County Fire Battalion Chief Robby Dawson.
