Abstract. The passerine genus Pomarea (monarchs, Monarchidae) is endemic to eastern Polynesia, where it is distributed on high volcanic islands of the Cook, Society, and Marquesas archipelagos. The Marquesan Imperial Pigeon, Ducula galeata, is a pigeon which is endemic to the Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia. It is also named the Nukuhiva Imperial Pigeon.
