On Monday, EA announced a new version of The Sims was in the works for release on the PC and Mac.
EA Maxis has announced that the first “major” update for their city-building and urban-planning simulation game SimCity will be released Monday at 4:00pm Eastern (1:00pm Pacific), various media outlets have reported.
Electronic Arts has said it will shut down three of the games it runs on Facebook. The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society will go offline on June 14.
The opening line on EA’s SimCity site says “Build the city of your dreams.” However, when the game officially launched on March 5, the dream quickly subsided and was replaced with one massive nightmare.
The original SimCity, released back in 1989, required players to provide power and water to the digital denizens who came to live in the game’s micropolis.
One of the giants of social gaming is being accused of copyright infringement by Electronic Arts (EA), which claims that certain key elements from their "The Sims Social" title have been blatantly copied in a competing product released by the alleged offender.
Electronic Arts hopes that Facebook users will make the move from Zynga's CityVille to EA's SimCity Social to build and nurture their houses and socialize.
