CRIME and safety teams met with residents yesterday to discover which issues and areas of their neighbourhood need targeting in a clean-up operation. A CARE home for older people has been extended with a specialist dementia nursing unit. Newton Aycliffe Town Mayor George Gray officially opened the facility at Aycliffe Care Centre, in Newton Ay - cliffe. The home, which is owned by Southern Cross, was established 16 years ago. The 16-metre steel structure is intended to become a landmark on the edge of Aycliffe Business Park, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
