OIL giants Amoco yesterday won an appeal against a pounds 25,000 fine for allowing 6.4 tons of diesel fuel to leak into the North Sea. Appeal judges ruled that a sheriff in Aberdeen had been wrong to convict the firm of breaching the Oil Pollution Act. The spill happened when a diesel tank on a gas-producing platform overflowed.
