The Olympic flame is a deeply rooted tradition dating back thousands of years. Even though it is based in Greek sporting heritage, it is the new technology which keeps the fire burning. The flame has been known to withstand elements such as rain and wind, but apparently, it can withstand just about anything. It can even hold up to protesters.
