MARYLAND HEIGHTS -- This morning, Pattonville High School will screen a slide show tribute to astronaut Robert Behnken in every classroom. At the same time, Behnken will likely be in space, his shuttle on course to meet the International Space Station 220 miles above the earth. Behnken, 37 and a 1988 Pattonville grad, is one of seven astronauts set to launch early this morning from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on a 16-day mission, the longest ever to the station. Robert Behnken is an engineer, U. S. Air Force officer and a NASA astronaut. He was born Robert Louis Behnken on July 28, 1970 in Creve Coeur, Missouri. He graduated from Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Washington University in 1992, all while being in he ROTC.
