The Pygmy Tarsier (Tarsius pumilus), is a nocturnal primate that is found in central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is also known as the Mountain Tarsier or Lesser Spectral Tarsier. It was thought to be extinct until 2000, when scientists accidentally killed one while trapping rats. The Philippine Tarsier (Tarsius syrichta; also known as mawmag in Cebuano/Visayan) is an endangered tarsier species endemic to the Philippines. It is found in the southeastern part of the archipelago, particularly in the provinces of Bohol, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao, Philippines.
