The Plott Hound is a large breed originally bred in the North Carolina mountains for boar hunting. Its ancestors were brought from Germany to the U.S., and the breed was named after the brothers that brought them. The breed originated around 1750, and it is a legendary hunting dog and the only breed known to have originated in North Carolina.
