Earlier this year a new Kickstarter campaign launched that allowed people to fund a project to control cockroaches using an iPhone, and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is finally speaking out against the project, some five months later.
Cockroach cyborgs are apparently becoming more and more popular, with researchers now turning to video games to help steer the insects via autopilot.
The RoboRoach is the world's first commercially available "Insect Cyborg" that involves neuroscience and engineering. Researchers from "Backyard Brains" created a device that allows you to install a pack to the antenna of a cockroach and control the insect using an app available on the iPhone.
