The International Space Station has been called a stepping stone to other worlds. NASA hasn't forgotten, however, that the behemoth space station is also on the doorstep of Earth.
The Antarctic ozone hole, a seasonal phenomenon that starts forming during the month of August was slightly smaller this year than it was on average over the past several decades, NASA satellite data has revealed.
The United Nations reported Friday that the hole in the ozone layer is expected to be smaller this year over the Antarctic than last year. They claim this illustrates how a ban on harmful substances has slowed ozone depletion.
