The Clun Forest sheep is a breed of domestic sheep that was developed in and named after the Clun Forest area of Shropshire. The first record of this breed was written in 1803 by Reverend Joseph Plymley, who wrote about its appearance. In 1873 Youatt wrote of the same characteristics, but also stated that the breed was changing quickly due to crossbreeding with many local breeds including the Longmynd and the Shropshire sheep.
