An earthquake that hit the southern Chinese provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan has killed at least 27 people, damaged or destroyed more than 180,000 homes, and affected at least 800,000 residents, state media said Sunday.
The death toll from Saturday's earthquake in China's Sichuan province, barely recovered from the May 12 quake, and in nearby Yunnan, has risen to 32.
Chinese authorities Sunday raised the death toll from this weekend's Sichuan earthquake to 25 as hundreds of aftershocks continued to rattle the region.
A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit southwest China Saturday, killing seven people and injuring 26, officials said. Eleven of the injured were said to have sustained serious wounds, the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
