By Moira Sharkey A SPECIAL school which runs its own eco-centre on a former quarry site, is setting a "green standard" for others. St Christopher's School in Wrexham is this year's winner of the DCSF Award for Sustainable School in Wales at the Teaching Awards 2008. In partnership with Tarmac Ltd, the eco-centre opened in Borras Quarry, in Wrexham, 10 years ago. This word is possibly named after Monteith (Monteigh), 'an eccentric 17th-century Scotsman who wore a cloak scalloped at the hem.'
