Better Vaccines Through Designer Bacteria

Scientists from the University of Texas-Austin recently revealed that they have been able to develop 61 new strains of genetically engineered bacteria that could boost the effectiveness of vaccines for diseases such as cholera, HPV, the flu, and pertussis.

For 50 years scientists have been unsure how the bacteria that gives humans cholera manages to resist one of our basic innate immune responses.
