Astronaut Michael Foale Announces Retirement

Michael Foale, a veteran of six NASA missions who spent a total of 375 days in space during his 26-year career, is retiring, the US space agency announced on Friday.

NASA astronaut Scott Parazynski is leaving the agency to take a job in the private sector. Parazynski, a medical doctor, is a veteran of five space shuttle flights and seven spacewalks.

Michael Foale is a British-American astrophysicist and a NASA astronaut. He was born, with dual citizenship, Colin Michael Foale on January 6, 1957 in Louth, England to an English father and an American mother. Michael Bloomfield was an American astronaut and a veteran of three space shuttle missions. He was born Michael John Bloomfield on March 16, 1959 in Flint, Michigan.
