LIFEGUARDS on a routine patrol at a beach had to abandon their 4x4 rescue vehicle after it became stuck in the sand. Despite their efforts on Coney Beach, Porthcawl, on Friday afternoon, the vehicle had to be abandoned as the tide came in.
