Research firm Canalys said on Wednesday that Google Inc.'s Android operating system took its market share to 35 percent in the first quarter of this year. The firm said the market for smartphones grew 83 percent from a year ago in the January-to-March quarter to 101 million phones. Nokia Corp. announced Wednesday that it will cut 7,000 jobs around the globe, through layoffs and outsourcing. Nokia said most of the 4,000 actual layoffs will be in Denmark, Finland and Britain.
