BANGOR - A retired surgeon will visit the hospitals where he practiced medicine for decades, this time to autograph the book of stories he wrote over several years. Dr. Thomas Palmer of Bangor will sign "Cracked Marbles: Life's Lessons for a Maine Surgeon," just published by Tiffin Press in Brooksville. The book is "fiction based in fact," as Palmer describes it, with each chapter the story of a patient of "Dr. Harry Byrd," his alter ego. Palmer will sign books: . 3 to 5 p.m....
