A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with a fight on a bus. An 81-year-old was hit on the shoulder when a fight broke out between other passengers on a bus near Gateshead Interchange, Walker Terrace, Gateshead. A 17-year-old has been arrested after being identified on CCTV and released on bail. By ALASTAIR CRAIG HOLIDAYMAKERS were facing delays today and tomorrow after a fighter jet struck by a bird crash-landed at Newcastle Airport. The RAF Tornado made a crisis diversion to the airport yesterday but overshot the runway by around 15 metres, forcing its complete closure. AN international airport was forced to close temporarily when a warplane over-ran the runway. Nobody was hurt when an RAF Tornado from 13 Squadron made an emergency landing at Newcastle International Airport at 4.55pm yesterday. The jet, which had taken off from RAF Marham in Norfolk, suffered a bird strike mid-flight and had to make an emergency landing at around 4.55pm.
