This coral is commonly collected and used worldwide in marine aquariums, where it is known to grow easily. There are 5 known species of mushroom coral: Actinodiscus dawydoffi, Actinodiscus fungiformis, Discosoma nummiforme, Actinodiscus rubraoris, and Actinodiscus unguja.
