Ryan Johnson gave San Jose the lead in the eighth minute and the Earthquakes maintained the advantage all the way until the game's final seconds. Brandon McDonald, who assisted on Johnson's goal, was carded for arguing with the referee, giving Casey a chance to deadlock the game.
