BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A security alert at Brussels' Zaventem international airport has been called off and normal operations are resuming, officials said on Thursday. "At this moment the A terminal is open for operations," a spokesman for the airport authorities said. The terminal, which handles flights to many destinations in the European Union, was evacuated earlier on Thursday after a passenger ran off during a routine check, triggering the security alert, officials said.

"The evacuation has been completed. They are now doing a complete sweep," an airport spokesman said. The A terminal, where the incident took place, handles flights to Schengen country destinations. The other B terminal was not affected and flights were continuing to take off and land.
