Japanese Cargo Craft Heads to Station

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s H-IIB rocket carrying the H-II Transfer Vehicle-3 (HTV3) launched at 10:06 p.m. EDT (11:06 a.m. July 21 Japan time) on Friday, July 20 from the Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan.

On July 27, Expedition 32 Flight Engineers Joe Acaba and Akihiko Hoshide will command the station’s robotic arm, Canadarm2, to reach out, grapple HTV3, also known as Kounotori3, and attach it to the Earth-facing port of the Harmony module.
