NASA Captures Planet Mercury In Color HD

NASA has been capturing images of the solar systems smallest planet Mercury for 2 years with its Messenger spacecraft, and has been collecting high resolution color images of the planet. Now the visual data has been stitched together to make a 3d model of the Mercury.

MESSENGER’s observations during the flybys and orbit show that the current understanding of the nature of Mercury’s exosphere is incomplete, says William McClintock, a MESSENGER mission co-investigator and senior scientist at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, University of Colorado, Boulder.
