NASA’s Global Hawk Aircraft and the Dropsonde System

Dropsondes provide insight into hurricane strength by monitoring winds and their direction. They also measure temperature, pressure, and humidity in the atmosphere. Here, physicist Gary Wick (NOAA) describes the Dropsonde System on board NASA’s Global Hawk aircraft.
