What causes it?

There are two main types of arthritis:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the joint capsule, a tough membrane enclosing the joints.

Is there a test?

  • Physical examination

    A doctor will examine your joints for swelling, redness, and check to see how well they move

  • Lab tests

  • Imaging

    X-Rays, CT Scans, MRI, and Ultrasound may be used to detect problems within the joint that may be causing the symptoms
