Gurakar Leaves Integris Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City

After 13 years at the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Ahmet Gurakar has accepted the position of medical director of liver transplantation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.

“We are proud that his accomplishments have led him to this prestigious hospital,” said Nicolas Jabbour, director of the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute. “While we are sorry to see him go, we know his presence there will allow us to establish a strong relationship with this world renowned center.”

Two new physicians will be joining the institute.

Sajid Jalil will be joining us in September. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, in June 2007 and has been practicing hepatology and gastroenterology in Fargo, N.D., at the MeritCare Health System. Jalil also received a master’s degree in clinical science at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Galveston.

Hany Elbeshbeshy will be joining the institute in November. He is board certified in internal medicine and completed his hepatology fellowship at the Liver Institute, University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, N.J., in June 2005. He has been practicing at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, N.M., since August 2005 where he served as the medical director of a multi-specialty group.
